The Commission meets every third Thursday at 12 noon at County Square. The meetings are open to the public.

Purpose

  1. Establish local Historic Property Designation and design review.
  2. Protect, preserve, and enhance the distinctive architectural and cultural heritage of Greenville County as established by the County Historic Preservation Ordinance.
  3. Foster Civic Pride.
  4. Ensure harmonious, orderly and efficient growth and development.
  5. Strenghten the local neighborhood character, and improve property values.
  6. Encourage a general harmony of style, form, proportion and material between buildings of historic design and those of contemporary design.
  7. Have all the powers set forth in Section 6-29-870 of the South Carolina Code of Laws, as implemented by the County Historic Preservation Ordinance of 1999 of the Greenville County Council.
